Jonathan Speaks, 76, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Lifecare of Hilton Head, Hilton Head, SC. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.
Jonathan Webb Speaks was born November 6, 1945 in Beaufort, SC to Nathaniel Speaks and Mary Webb Speaks.
Jonathan attended the public schools of Robert Small High School in Beaufort, SC. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy, he joined the American Legion Post 205. He later worked in construction as a drywall specialist.
Jonathan joined and faithful attended, Campbell Chapel AME Church until his health began to fail. He was a member of the Sons of Allen.
On Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Life Care of Hilton Head Jonathan W. Speaks was called from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings: Dr. Vernell Speaks-Stewart and Mary Lee Speaks. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Jonathan leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories: his loving wife, Laura Brown-Speaks; his children: Jonathan Speaks, Jorita Speaks, Nathaniel B. Scott, Sherice B. Adams, Denise Brown and April Wilson; 14 grandchildren; sisters: Annie Ruth Lawton (Royce) and Jeanie Green (Jerry) of St. Helena Island, SC; brothers in law: Boston Brown, Redmond Brown and Frankie Brown (Annie); sister in law: Mary Tatum of Boston, MA; to include a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
