Gwendolyn Gaston Jones Obituary

Gwendolyn G. Jones, 68, of Hardeeville, SC passed away on January 2, 2022, at Coastal Carolina Hospital, SC. She was the mother of Adrian Gaston, Byron Gaston, and Brent Gaston. Arrangements are entrusted to  Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland, SC.

Gwendolyn Larcenia Gaston was born to Leo and Julia Gaston August 31, 1953 in Hampton County, SC. She attended the public schools of Jasper and Hampton Counties and later attended Rutgers University in Brunswick, NJ.
Gwendolyn was a caring mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and friend. Gwen suddenly departed this life on January 2, 2022, when she heard the masters call, she could not stay another day to laugh, talk or see the dawning of a new day.
  Gwendolyn was a police dispatcher for Hardeeville, SC and later worked US Customs in New Jersey. Upon her return to South Carolina, she worked in the tourist industry on Hilton Head, South Carolina until she retired. She was a member of Gillison Branch Baptist Church in Pineland, SC.
Gwendolyn was proceeded in death by her father Leo Gaston Sr., mother Julia B. Gaston, sister Wilhilmina Martin, brothers, Johnny Pete Best, Henry O’Neal Gaston, brother-in-laws: Rev. William Gullette, Clifford Mike, Harry Martin, great grandson James Askew III, and a special niece, Paulette Frazier.
Gwendolyn loved her family, western movies, music, socializing and pets. Her greatest pride and joy, however, was being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Reginald Jones, her loving sons: Adrian Gaston (Tonya), 
Byron Gaston (Ghania) and Brent Gaston. Her grandchildren Courtney Askew (James), 
Kweisi Gaston, Bri Leshe Gaston, Adrian D. Gaston Jr., Marcelus Walker and Melania Walker. Her great-grandchildren Jocelyn Askew, Legend Walker and Maison Walker. Her loving siblings: Lucille Gullette, Barbara Mike, Shirley Stephenson, James Edwards Gaston, 
 Leo Gaston Jr., Vernetta Canteen, Mildred Greene, Minnie L. Greene, Zenith Greene, Timothy Greene, Ricky Greene, Lenwood Greene, Ervin Greene and Roger Greene (Thelma). 
Sisters in laws: Roslyn (Leon) Simmons, Denise Law, Betty Mack and Elder Ardell Greene.  Special nephews; Anthony O’Neal Gaston and Kevin Tyrone Barker. Special nieces; Gretchen Barker and Michelle Gaston. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends that will miss her dearly.
 

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5 to 7 PM @ the Allen Funeral Home Complex. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 8, 2022 under the Allen Funeral Home Canopy in Ridgeland, SC @ 1 PM. Burial will follow in Mackey Point Cemetery.
