Joseph Smith

Joseph H. Smith was born on October 7, 1926, to Albert and Bessie Smith. Joseph was reared in Ridgeland, SC. 
In 1947, Joseph moved to New York City. He worked on the Waterfront for several years, before returning to South Carolina permanently. 
Joseph frequented attended Rock Spring Baptist Church in Grays, SC, and was under watch care at Olive Grove Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. His favorite passage from the Bible is the 23rd Psalms. His favorite pastimes were watching his two favorite baseball teams play, the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He also enjoyed collecting hats and spending a lot of time with his family. 
On the afternoon on June 19th Joseph went home to be with the Lord at 1:17 PM. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Bessie Smith; his beloved wife of 60 years, Fannie Smith; his son: Darren Henry; his brothers: Willie Smith and Albert Smith, Jr. Joseph will be missed by those who knew and loved him. 
Joseph leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories: his children: Laverne and Reggie Henry, Alvin Walker and Mamie Glover; daughter in law: Earline Irick; his siblings: Pearlie Smith, Ralph & Francis Smith, Julianne McDaniel’s and Mary Ella Sherman; also to include his grandchildren along with a host of his nieces, nephews, cousin and dear friends.
