John Rice

John Rice, 77, of Ridgeland, SC, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at his residence in Hardeeville, SC. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

John Evan Rice was born to the late Evan Rice and Jenny Orr-Rice at their residence in Ridgeland, SC on January 4, 1944. John was raised by the late Rudell Mitchell-Rice. On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, John departed his earthly home in Levy, SC, at the age of 77. 
John was preceded in death by his daughter Kim Mitchell-Jones, and one brother Elliott Mitchell.
John spent most of his life in the city of Ridgeland, SC and later graduated from Ridgeland High School in 1963. In his younger years John worked for South Carolina Department of Transportation. Later he moved to Detroit, Michigan to work for the Ford Motor Company, then later on went to work Ministrator Constructions of Detroit, Michigan until his retirement.
John joined the Lovely Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Alston and later joined Hardeeville Full Gospel Deliverance Ministries, Inc under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Michael and Roleatha Brown until his death. He enjoyed his sports, lending a helping hand when needed, and spending time with his family and friends.
John leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Dorothy Powell of Levy, South Carolina, his loving children; Saundria Wrice of Ridgeland, S.C., Gelinda Heyward of Ridgeland, SC, Abrelon Wrice of Mobile, Al., Henry Alston of Hardeeville, SC, Robbie (Waddell) Good man of Fayetteville, NC, Tony(Helen) page of Fayetteville, NC, Robert (Paris) Page of Beaufort, SC, and Alfred Jackson of Fayetteville, NC, two sisters; Jennette Jones of Hardeeville, SC, and Joan Gadson of Ridgeland, SC, grandchildren; Marshall, Tatyana, Javonte, Jashaun, and Tamerea all of Ridgeland, SC, Isaiah, Antonio, Tony Jr, Brandon, Anthony, Ayranna, Elijah and Marco all of Fayetteville, NC, Antoinette, Harmony, Justice, Genesis, and King all of Hardeville, SC, one special goddaughter, Khadidra Washington of Ridgeland, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and special friends including: Randolph White of Estill, SC, Rasheid Mervin of Ridgeland, SC, Edward Fripp of Savannah, GA, James Welch of Hardeville, SC and Kenneth Rivers of Ridgeland, SC
