John Pat Busby, Sr., 78, was born on February 13, 1943, to the late Emma and Angus Busby Sr. in Coosawhatchie, South Carolina. He received his formal education in the Jasper County school system. Before moving to New Jersey in 1963, Pat worked at Turkey Hill Plantation. While living in New Jersey, he worked for Ruben Trucking Company and later for Spinelli Brothers Trucking which he really enjoyed. Afterwards he realized he loved truck driving so much, when he moved to Alabama, he drove for Conecuh Timber for the remainder of his life.
On June 16, 1962, he was joined in holy matrimony to the late Eunice Marie Graham and from this union four children were born. John A. Busby Jr, Don M. Busby, Demeress I. Busby, and Eunice M. Busby. In addition, Pat had 5 more children, Tonya Ballard, Omar Ballard, Reginald Ballard, Kareem Ballard, and Princess Ballard.
Everyone who knew Pat knew that he was a proud man with a good spirit, loved to dance, and was a great speaker. Pat enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and going fishing. Among other things Pat loved to hunt and cook but otherwise led a quiet life.
On Thursday June 3, 2021, God called his servant from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his parents Emma and Angus Busby, his two sisters Berta Mae Hamilton and Ann Richards, three brothers Joe Lewis Busby, Angus Busby Jr and Harold Busby, one daughter Eunice Marie Busby and one granddaughter Ashleey Victoria Busby.
He leaves to cherish in his memory five sons John A. Busby Jr., Don M. Busby, Omar Ballard Sr. Reginald Ballard (Gretchen) and Kareem Ballard all of New Jersey, three daughters Demeress Busby, and Princess Ballard of New Jersey and Tonya Ballard of Tampa Florida 28 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved him dearly. Also, his “special” great-niece Michelle (De’Nee) Miles, and two favorite nieces Tonya Busby-Knight and Vanessa Busby.
