Deacon James Green Jr, 78, of Ridgeland passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at his residence in Ridgeland SC. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

Deacon James “Rat” Green, Jr. passed away on July 22, 2021, at the age of 78. In his
hometown of Grays, South Carolina. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed
his courage in facing life challenges. with a smile.
Deacon James Green Jr., a son of the late James Green Sr. and Mae Etha Garvin- Green, was
born August 17, 1942, in Hampton, South Carolina. A native of the Grays Community of Jasper
County he was a graduate of Jasper High school class of 1964.
James was reared in a Christian home and was taught to love the Lord. Early in life, he was
baptized and was united with the Rock Spring Baptist Church of Grays, South Carolina.
James served as the president of the Jasper County Foster Parent Association for many
years, impacting the lives of others.
In addition, James spent some plus 30 years at the Beaufort, Hampton, Jasper Comprehensive
Health as a Medical Carrier.
James also loved the church, he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board of Rock Spring
Baptist Church for many years. Also, he served as the President of the Rock Spring Association
Mass Choir.
In his spare time, James loved to travel and spend time on the farm where he raised
everything from chickens to cows as well as horses. He organized trips all the way to New Orleans.
James is survived by his loving wife Gwendolyn Elaine Green, his children Ronda Green,
Jennifer Joyner, Palamar Pinckney, Jacqueline Priester, and James Green, III; siblings, Timothy
Green, Rosa Mae Grant, Deloris C. Shaw (Thaddeus), his resource daughter, Brittany Lane, 14
grandchildren 2 resource grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; special nephews Thomas
Murray Jr. and Lorenzo Murray; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives
and friends.
