Bishop Bengyiman (Benjamin) Allen Jr, son of the late Benjamin Allen, Sr and Annie Lee Green, was born November 5, 1944 in Beaufort County, SC. He exchanged this life for his eternal life on Thursday, February 25, 2021 as he made his debut in heaven. Bishop Allen was known as an overcomer; his unwavering love of God; his love for his family and friends; and a witty rhyme for every occasion. He leaves everyone who knew him with at least one story that will make them smile at the thought of him.
One of his greatest joys was handling strap medal. Many in the surrounding communities called for him to make pick-ups over the last 13 years. He was known for this statement:“Pound for pound. I’m the best around. If you don’t want to see it again … Call Ben!”
Bishop Allen was united in marriage to the late Evangelist Shirley Smith Allen on November 5, 1965. Together they pastored Deliverance Center Church of Christ.
They also planted many churches over the years of their ministry together and were jointly responsible for many souls being won for Christ through yard services, evangelizing, and spreading the gospel to every creature. He was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Allen III.
Those left to cherish Bishop Allen’s fond memory include his five children: Willie (Tondelia) Smalls of Marlboro, MD; Elisa (Russell) Harrison of Grays Hill, SC; Yolanda Perry of Spanaway, WA; Adrian and Brittany Allen of Grays Hill, SC; five grandchildren: Benjamin IV, Darius, Kadazia, Ritchie , Natalie, Kyra, and Nevaeh; great grand-children: Anthony, Adriana, Skylar, Bonnie, JaVar, Peyton, Calysta, and KhaLanee; five brothers and two sisters: Don (Betty) Allen, Eugene (Diane) Allen, Robert (Maybelle) Allen, Julious Allen, Thomas (Loretta) Allen, Evelyn (Joe) Simmons, Queen (Curtis Sr.) Deloach; goddaughter: Mary E. Griffin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Bishop Allen will also be missed by his special friend, Daisy Anderson and surrogate sons Phillip (Wendy) Beaty
and Robert Lee (Jennifer) Burton.
