Vivian Jenkins

Our beloved - Sister Vivian Jenkins, affectionately known as “Ditty” a lifelong Bluffton resident, was born on April 30, 1937 to Alphonso and Queenie Gadson Jenkins. On Tuesday evening, September 17, 2019 with family members present, the Heavenly Father bore her spirit to the great beyond realizing that life would present many challenges. At an early age, she confessed Christ, was baptized and joined the First Zion (Missionary) Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. A. O. Mitchell.  She knew that throughout the journey Christ is the solid rock on which she could place all her faith. She cultivated many lifelong friendships at First Zion and in the community. 
She received her early education at Bluffton Graded School and graduated from Michael C. Riley High School, where she played on the basketball team.  She worked for the Hampton Inn on Hilton Head Island as a housekeeper for many years. Ditty was a devoted, kind and caring mother, grandmother and homemaker. Ditty dearly loved her family, friends and her Church. She will be sadly missed by all.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Edna Jenkins, Sarah Middleton, Bessie Mae Heyward, Alice Taylor, James Jenkins, and Theodore Chaplin; son, William D. Jenkins; grandson, Carlos Ephraim, and granddaughter, Crystal Jenkins. 
Her precious memories are left to be cherished her children, Juanita (Allen) Cleveland, Barbara Ann Jenkins, Karen Parker, Wanda (Robert) Hlusek, Ann Michelle (Jean) Laguerre, and Tonya Jenkins all of Bluffton, SC, Bernard (Stacy) Jenkins of Ridgeland, SC and Darrin (Janice) Jenkins of Georgetown, Kentucky; Grandchildren Terrance Jenkins, Natalie Dupont, Keshanya Cleveland, Darrin Jenkins, Tyler Hlusek and Malachi Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Alexis Martinez, Jay’Quan Patterson, Treasurique Govan, Darius Ephraim, Carlos Ephraim, Jr., Kristie Ephraim and Precious Ephraim; sister in law, Mary Jenkins. She also leaves a legacy to a special niece, Clareatha Brown, great niece, Debbie Frazier and many exceptional friends, to include Marcia Renee Frazier, Albertha Mitchell, Min. Linda Bryan, David Mack, Terry Mack, Tommie Perry and Dominique Cavalluzzi.

Vivian Jenkins, 82 of Bluffton, SC died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Hilton Head Hospital on Hilton Head Island, SC. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm at First Zion Baptist Church in Bluffton, SC. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, September 24, 2019 also at First Zion Baptist Church. Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort in charge.
