David Benjamin Singleton

David Benjamin Singleton, 66 was born January 4, 1952 in Beaufort SC.  He was the son of the late Joseph Singleton Sr. and Sylvia J. Singleton.  David entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Medical University in Charleston SC.

David received his formal education from Beaufort High School, Beaufort, SC where he graduated in 1970.  He was member of Ebenezer Baptist Church on St. Helena Island, SC.  Throughout his life, he was employed in various capacities but was primarily a skilled master brick mason.

David was a loving and kind-hearted person who wouldn’t hurt a fly.  He enjoyed nature and had a love for gardening, fishing/striking, dancing, playing cards, playing horseshoes, and watching old western movies.

In addition to his parents; Joseph Singleton Sr. and Sylvia J. Singleton, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Melvin J. Singleton Sr.

David leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Leonard Holmes of St. Helena, SC and Lashawn Scott of Junction City, Kansas; two daughters, Monique Scott of St. Helena’s Island and Tina Hines of Florida; two sisters, Helena J. Bryan of  Beaufort, SC and Juanita Singleton of St. Helena, SC who cared for  him until his passing; one brother, Joseph Singleton Jr. of St. Helena, SC;  uncle, Henry Jenkins (Essie); aunts, Isabelle Jenkins, Katherine Austin and a special aunt, Queen Singleton; a host of grandchildren,  great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends; to include a special nephew, Corey Singleton and niece Camarah Brown both of  Beaufort SC.

Visitation will be Friday July 13, 2018 from 5 pm until 7 pm  at Allen Funeral Chapel  1508 Duke Street Beaufort, SC. Funeral Services  Saturday July 14, 2018  at 11 AM  Ebenezer Baptist Church on St. Helena Island, SC.
